A Letter from Lance & Kristen

Kia ora! Thank you for taking the time to consider us as adoptive parents. We are a Christ-centered, homeschooling, creative family of four living in Louisiana. We love spending time with family and friends, visiting new places, and enjoying the beauty of the world. We are so excited to add a precious soul to our family through adoption.

About Us

We met at college in an art class, married soon after, and have enjoyed 15 wonderful years together. For nine years we lived and worked in New Zealand with a church.  During that time our two sons, Silas and Asher, were born. The New Zealand lifestyle taught us to enjoy our surroundings and to have a healthy family/work balance, as well as appreciate the beauty in different cultures. We have been back in the U.S. since mid-2021. Lance works as an online content creator of Bible studies and manages a successful YouTube channel. Kristen is a stay-at-home mother and homeschool teacher.

At home, we play hard and work hard. We are very active with our church and love spending time with them. We really look forward to having another little one in our family to love, guide, and share our lives with. Our boys are SO excited to have another sibling.

Together, we enjoy:
*Going on walks
*Board games
*Nerdy movies/shows
*Traveling and adventures
*Anything and everything creative

About Kristen

Lance says: In a fast-paced, big-picture world, I could not be more thankful to have Kristen in my and our children’s lives to remind us to see love, beauty, and even God Himself in the little things. To watch her coach our children as they grow up to be loving, creative, and expressive human beings is a daily treasure to me. She helps the entire family develop our talents and pursue our interests, while always reminding us of our family’s goals. Kristen loves to guide and train our children, read to them, play with them (especially at the park), and take them on weekly adventures. She’s also wonderful at keeping them plugged into the wider family.

Hobbies:
*Sewing and embroidery
*Interior Decorating
*Planning family adventures
*Reading
*Browsing IKEA

About Lance

Kristen says: Lance is one of those rare, truly genuine people. He is patient, kind, and funny, which has made him a fantastic father and a wonderful husband. What I love most about him is his gentleness—both in speech and action. He is a very hard worker and provides well for our family. He always makes time for playing games with the kids and loves reading to them before bed. He is a mega Lord of the Rings and Hobbit nerd and is excited to share this passion with a new child, just as he has with our children. He loves his coffee twice a day and he is always ready with a great dad-joke! He keeps us smiling.

Hobbies:
*Woodworking
*Writing
*3D printing and laser engraving
*Landscape photography
*Playing and listening to music

Our Sons and Family

Our Sons: Silas (9 years old) is creative and loves designing and building. He wants to be an engineer when he grows up. Silas is a natural leader. He is very excited to have a new sibling to teach all the “cool stuff” to. Asher (6 years old) is a gentle, loving soul. He spends most of his free time in pretend play as a cat, dog, or superhero. Asher truly loves everyone he meets. He will be such a sweet and helpful big brother.

Extended Family: We have a close-knit relationship with our large extended family and love our time with them during holidays and “just because” trips! We are able to visit with them at least 4 times a year and talk to them weekly (if not more!). All of the grandmas and grandpas are so excited to have another grandchild. We are blessed with the best bonus family, our church, who are delighted to have another little one to love and spoil.

Our Home in Louisiana

We live in a spacious, open-plan 4-bedroom home in a quiet neighborhood. We have a backyard great for playing and swinging as well as a large, covered patio area that is perfect for drawing with chalk and riding scooters. We have plenty of space out front to ride bikes or play basketball. We have a cat named Shire that is very sweet and great with kids. Our neighbors are friendly and many of them have children too. There’s always something for the children to explore, including lizards and toads they enjoy catching. We enjoy visiting the nearby playgrounds with friends. The local library has weekly story time and a great summer program that we really enjoy attending. We are close to great museums, an aquarium, and the zoo.

Although we currently live and work in Louisiana, we plan to make the move to West Tennessee in early 2025 to be closer to family. We expect to make many wonderful memories there.

Our Promise

We truly appreciate you. Thank you for considering us as adoptive parents of your little one. We promise to love them as our own. We will treasure all of their unique qualities and guide them as they discover their talents. We will maintain an environment where they are free to be children in a safe, stable, and nurturing home. We commit to providing them with a knowledge of God as we do our best to model Christ in our own lives. You will always be spoken of in the highest level of love and respect. If you wish, we will happily share visits, photos, letters, and achievements with you.

More About Our Family
Family Traditions

Family Fridays --- Every Friday, we either go out to eat as a family or get something to bring back home. We spend the evening just enjoying our time together as a family—playing games, watching a movie, or working on a project together.

Christmas --- We have continued a tradition we learned in New Zealand: sitting down to the Christmas meal and snapping open Christmas crackers together. They are like large poppers with a silly joke, a paper crown, and little toys inside.

Birthdays --- We make a cake together the day before. On the day, we sing and open gifts. The birthday person gets to pick what they want to do on their special day. That might be anything—go eat somewhere special, go watch a movie at the theater, or go on a swamp tour!

Travel

We love seeing different parts of the world! Traveling gives us such a great appreciation for people, cultures, history, and varying landscapes.

Where we have been:
- 30 different states
- Bonaire (in the Caribbean)
- Lived and worked in New Zealand (where the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit trilogies were filmed!) for nine years.
- (Lance) all over Europe
- (Lance) Fiji

Where we plan to travel in the future:
- Hawaii
- European tour (Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Ireland)
- Holy Lands Tour
- New Zealand

Hopeful travel:
- Japan
- Brazil
- Egypt
- Canada

We look forward to taking our children to all these amazing places.

Evening Routine

Sitting down as a family to eat a meal is when we enjoy discussing the day. We talk about our hopes, dreams, and concerns. Lance usually finishes eating first and then reads a devotion while we're at the table. When the kids get ready for bed we gather for “Bible Time" to sing a hymn together and pray together. Afterward each child gets to choose a story for us to read. (Asher’s current favorites are the Dr. Seuss books, and Silas is currently going through The Chronicles of Narnia.) We love this time to wind down and end our days as a family!
